Garbage specification that is allowed to continue because of inertia.  You must actively fight against technical debt and technical apathy or be confined to the limits of others abilities and not your own.

Digital Ocean is now offering prebuilt load balancers which is great.  Online tools are growing in seemingly exponential fashion, but restrictions on keeping servers internal does not allow for use of such features.

Features could be made available internally with time and effort, both items are not ever given, so how to bring modern convenience to old environments the infrastructure should be weighted as an ongoing maintenance item that is apparent at all times to invest and grow during creation and maintenance of software.
